These components undoubtedly have moderate anti-inflammatory activity, but how effective can it be with acne? Below we publish the commentary of the dermatologist on this tool.

Calendula for acne: Dermatologist reviews

Most professional acne treatment lotions contain alcohol in low concentrations, which is needed as a solvent and for skin defatting. Regular use of tincture with 70% alcohol will cause dryness and keratosis of the skin.

Under keratosis, it should be understood - an increase in the thickness of the superficial dead skin layer, which will undoubtedly lead to even greater clogging of the pores with exfoliated epithelial cells. It is not casual when acne and acne quite often prescribed peeling procedures. Peeling is needed precisely to reduce the thickness of dead skin layers and open pores.

The use of a concentrated alcohol solution will cause the opposite effect: the pores will be clogged faster, there will be more acne on the skin and as a result, acne will transform into acne. Of course, calendula tincture on 70% alcohol can be diluted with water 1:10, but the use of even weak alcohol solutions is contraindicated if you have dry (or thinned) skin.

In addition, the dilution will lead to a decrease in the concentration of active ingredients, which already have, to say the least, not a strong anti-inflammatory effect. Therefore, in fact, the use of this remedy in the form of diluted - meaningless, and in undiluted - on the contrary will cause an increase in the number of acne and acne due to keratosis of the upper layers of the skin under the influence of alcohol.

What really helps with acne -

  • First, you need to clean your face 2 times a day (morning and evening) with mild detergents (for example, Dove or Neutrogena).
  • Secondly - to completely eliminate cosmetics and face skin care products made on a fat basis, since such funds clog the pores of the skin, which is the starting point for the formation of acne and pimples. The means you use should be exclusively water based.
  • In no case do not self-treat with the help of various ointments. Any ointment made on a fatty basis, and then they simply clogged the pores and this will cause the appearance of acne and pimples.

Different treatment of acne and acne -

You will be able to figure out what remedies can be effective if you understand the mechanism and the causes of acne and acne on the skin. Acne and acne are not the same thing, and they require different treatments.

Acne appears either as white bumps on the surface of the skin, or as black dots in the pores of the skin (Figure 4-5). Acne, to put it simply, are plugs in the pores of the skin, consisting of desquamated dead skin cells and secretions of the sebaceous glands (sebum). When acne is completely absent inflammation.

Acne is a consequence of the presence of acne, and occurs when bacteria are multiplied under the cork (eel) inside the hair follicle. As a result, inflammation and pus formation occurs (Fig. 6). Acne looks like inflamed, bright red bumps on the surface of the skin.

Acne treatment and acne will be completely different, because in one case, there are only fat plugs in the pores in the absence of any inflammation, and in the other case it has locally purulent inflammation of the hair follicles.

  • If you have acne -
This treatment will consist of prescribing retinoid drugs, as well as possibly drugs based on azelaic and salicylic acids.
  • If you have acne -
then first prescribed drugs with benzoyl peroxide, which is the gold standard for treating acne.

Summary -

Calendula tincture - the use of acne is impractical and even harmful, because alcohol solution will cause increased keratinization of the surface layer of the skin (keratosis). The latter will accelerate the clogging of the pores of the skin by the secretion of the sebaceous glands and the desiccated dead skin cells.

The use of diluted calendula tincture solution can be effective only for skin defatting, by applying it on cotton pads and cleaning the skin. However, as with any use of alcohol solutions, it will cause the appearance or enhance the dryness of the skin, with almost no anti-inflammatory effect.
